I'm going to start blogging on a daily basis.  I know, I know, I always say that.  Since it's become chilly outside I will be spending more time indoors.  You know what that means....DIY!  Today I'm making my own vanilla extract.  From what I've been told, this is the easiest/cheapest gift to make for Christmas.  Plus I've heard if you use pure vanilla extract instead of imitation, your cookies will be so much better.  Anyways, I used the ratio 2 beans to 1 cup of vodka.  I've read you can use cheap vodka, I choose Pinnacle because I'm a fan of their flavored vodkas.  I bought the vanilla beans at my local grocery store.  I found out after I bought them that they are way cheaper online.  If you decide you want to try this project, I highly suggest you purchase the beans on the internet.  I'm going to buy more on www.topvanilla.com . 

You need to use a mason jar or another air tight container.  I got a set of 4 pt sized jars at Target.  This needs to sit for about 6 weeks until it's done.  From what I've read, pure vanilla has no expiration date which is awesome to know!  If you have tomato juice and pepper, I highly recommend making yourself a bloody mary because you really do deserve it :)





Tomorrow I'm going to make a household favorite, mini cheesecakes along with cherry limeades.
